Austria's JetClass utilises AI for new bizjet charter model

13 Oct 2017

Two aviation entrepreneurs have launched a new venture which aims to provide private charter seats without the high costs of membership or subscription services. JetClass (Vienna), a licensed travel agency based in Vienna, is essentially a bizjet operation which allows passengers to buy seats on aircraft sourced from partners such as GlobeAir (GAC, Linz).

JetClass claims to use Artificial Intelligence to determine which routes will be in demand, then positions flights along those routes and issues tickets. Flights are secured by the company itself, meaning that scheduled jets will depart even if booked by just one passenger.

The start-up also lists its flights on global distribution systems and meta search sites. Its main partner is Charterscanner, a B2C online jet booking platform, which was also built by JetClass' founders.

Since launching two months ago, JetClass has operated 50 flights with an average occupancy rate of 70%, a spokesperson told ch-aviation.

According to ch-aviation schedule data, JetClass is currently connecting the following city pairs:

  • - Amsterdam – Hanover
  • - Amsterdam – Marseilles
  • - Amsterdam – Strasbourg
  • - Berlin Schönefeld – Strasbourg
  • - Brussels National – London Biggin Hill
  • - Brussels National – Zurich
  • - Chambéry – London Biggin Hill
  • - Milan Linate – Lyon Bron
  • - Milan Linate – Paris Le Bourget
  • - Vienna – Warsaw Chopin
